Magic Garden (Secret Buddha Garden)

The magic garden was built in 1976 by Mr. Nim Thongsuk, a local farmer from Koh Samui. At the age of 77, he began to build this mystical garden. The secret garden or Buddha’s garden is situated high up in the hills/mountains on the south side of Koh Samui.

The Magic Garden with its many statues, waterfalls, spirituous houses and tropical flowers has a special mystical atmosphere.

The secret garden of the Buddha, also known as the Garden of Heaven or Magic Garden. The statues represent numerous creatures and sculptures from Buddhist mythology, of all shapes and sizes that have spread throughout the park.

For many years, the founder of the Khun Nim Garden was known as a farmer who grew durian trees. He helped Samui to become famous for this spicy and popular Thai fruit. When he retires, he opens private property to the public and forms a team to develop the garden. He has created many figures representing mainly Buddhist folklore. Each statue has a story to tell, and most Thailanders know the meaning and mythology of these impressive works of art.

Admission prices

If you visit the Secret Garden of Buddha by yourself, the entrance fee is 80 baht per person.

How to get there?

The road to the Magic Garden is very steep and requires good driving skills and a 4×4.
There are several viewpoints along the road to Buddha’s secret garden which offers a breathtaking panoramic view.
Directly opposite Wat Khunaram near Lamai is now a new road that leads through the very steep hills to the Secret Garden, also known as the Magic or Buddha Garden.
